The goal: To deliver a tracking device. That works.
Bicycle theft has evolved to become a major social problem in several countries. In Norway, through 2014, NOK 70 million was paid from insurance companies to cover clients’ loss of bikes due to theft. This number is an increase of 21% compared to the year 2013. And because of this rapid and sudden increase, the Norwegian police has for the first time acknowledged the growing scale of the problem. We agree. And we believe something new is needed to combat it.
The main problem with other solutions that aim to find your bike, is that the product is not fully integrated. The tracking device is therefore easily removable, and it will only contribute to a false sense of safety of your bike. BikeFinder is installed on the inside of the frame on the bike. This assures that it is not visible from the outside, and that it is virtually impossible to remove for the mobile thief. And even though it is fitted on the inside of the frame, a strong antenna will provide sufficient signals making you able to track the bike in most conditions.
BikeFinder was founded by Ole Martin Ølmheim. As a former professional bike ahlete, Ole personally experienced and witnessed the growing problem of bike theft. This is why he got inspired to develop the foundation of what would later become to be known as BikeFinder. With a lot of help from his investors, Leif and Erik, the project launched at the end of 2013.
